From chandeliers and gilt-edged mirrors to stunning picture windows with breathtaking views, there are plenty of ways to give your salon a glam facelift.
And there's no one-size fits all rules for what makes glamour - while it might be all about gold, velvet and jewel-tone shades for some salons, striking white and concrete can create an equally glam look when dressed up with the right accessories.
Here, we take a look at some of our favourite salons from across the globe - all of which exude the glamour factor.
Guy Christian, Cardiff Bay

Combining an exposed concrete ceiling with elaborate chandeliers and giant gilt mirrors creates a 21st century twist on glamour at this stylish warehouse salon in up-and-coming Cardiff Bay. See more pictures here.
House of Rush, London

Don't forget the practical areas as well as the more obvious parts of the salon - at the Rush flagship salon in London, art deco touches make this corridor more bespoke than just a byway.
Shuki Zukhuri, Israel

Keep your clients - and staff - inspired with imagery of glamorous icons; at Shuki Zukhuri in Israel a cluster of photographic portraits of a wealth of inspiring names provides inspiration.
Buzby and Blue, Chichester

It doesn't have to be full-on glamour - wallpaper, vintage ornaments and bespoke furniture can add intrigue to any salon space. At Buzby and Blue, chintz combines with classic fittings for an elegantly quirky look.
Bohemia, Ipswich

Chandeliers always make a statement, so why not go large and introduce a bespoke light fitting as a real focal point in the salon? At Bohemia, the glittering light fixtures contrasts perfectly against brick walls and wooden floors.
Garrii Bailey, Westcliff-on-Sea

No other colour demands respect quite like black, and mixing it with another shade ensures it's chic rather than scary. At Garrii Bailey, gilt mirrors and quirky vintage prints create the grandeur of a stately home.
Oscar Oscar, Australia

Stimulate all the senses with sensuous textures - velvets, silks and chiffons in an elegant palette of dusky pinks and purples create a boudoir feel at Oscar Oscar in Australia. Combine with elaborate flowers for the perfect finishing touch.
Queen Bee, Scunthorpe

Choose vintage pieces for a timelessly chic parlour. Combined with printed wallpaper, a tactile rug and one-off furniture, Queen Bee in Scunthorpe feels like a dream vintage dressing room.
3Thirty, London

Gilt frames can add a touch of opulence to any surroundings - at 3Thirty in Shoreditch, mismatched cushions, chairs and styling stations add to the eclectic feel.
Wild Life, Australia

There's nothing more breathaking than a stunning view - and while not many salons can boast the position of Wild Life, beside Sydney Harbour Bridge - it still pays to make the most of the outside world if you can. Whether it's a local landmark, garden or serene courtyard, picture windows help to bring the outside in.
