George's hairdressing raises funds for leicester link George's Hairdressing Raises Funds for Leicester Link In the busy run-up to Christmas, Leicester salon group George's Hairdressing gave up a Sunday to raise much-needed funds for Leicester Link charity. Salon director Bianka Katon and stylist Leanne Cunningham arranged a jumble sale in their city centre branch, with all proceeds going to the charity. Clients, stylists and members of the public all donated goods from brands including Burberry and Diesel, with everything priced at £1. Hundreds of people passed through the salon's doors on the day to donate funds and pick up a Christmas bargain, with £400 raised in total. Any unsold items were either donated to charity or put up for sale on eBay. Leicester Link assists those who have lost their homes in times of hardship, supporting them with a place to sleep, eat and recuperate. The generous salon group also shared their profits with the Leicester Y and the Dawn Centre, both of which also provide support to those in need over the festive season. Leanne says: "We’ve worked really closely with Leicester Link to make the jumble sale a success. For all of us at George's, it’s so important for everyone in the community to have a lovely Christmas. Everyone deserves to enjoy this magical time of year and the fantastic work that Leicester Link do needs to be more widely recognised. They buy uniforms for children whose parents cannot afford them, help pay for central heating and even give high street vouchers to families so that they can have a little something underneath their Christmas tree. People’s generosity has been phenomenal and Leicester Link have been brilliant in helping to publicise our event too. It means so much that everyone has the opportunity to have a lovely Christmas this year and we hope that the money raised can really make a difference to someone."
