Five ways to make instagram work for you InstagramPR guru Laura Glazebrook of LWPR looks at how salons can use Instagram to build their brand. When it comes to social media I’d say the hairdressing industry is pretty hot on it! We’re all pretty Instagram mad at LWPR so I thought I’d share some of our top tips on how you can run a successful business profile and get the most out of this growing platform. More than 20 billion photos have been shared since Instagram launched with over 200 million monthly active users sharing 60 million photos a day. There’s no denying it, people LOVE Instagram so it’s vital that your brand is realising this demand and create an Instagram account that is going to be realistic to run and beneficial to your business. Instagram as a brand has a reputation for being a creative and unique platform that gives users the ability to capture and share important moments with followers. It is used as a creative playground for brands and professionals in which the hairdressing industry has particularly adopted this platform due to its creative and arty nature. Here’s our top tips for salons and brands looking to venture into the world of Instagram: 1. Use relevant hashtags that people can find you on, such as your company name or an event you’ve attended. 2. Pick one or two filters to use and stick to them – this is great for building brand image and identity. 3. Keep posts friendly and light hearted. Avoid corporate-looking images, social media is supposed to be social and fun so give your followers an insight into the people working behind your brand and the activities you get up to as a team. 4. Be interactive! Follow, like, comment and ‘regram’ images from your followers and other professionals in the industry. It’s a great way to get your name out there and build a strong following. 5. Finally, and arguably the most important, set your salon some goals and targets! What do you want to achieve with an Instagram account? Is it bums on seats? Industry recognition? Local community involvement? Whatever your motive for a profile make sure this is channelled through your images and language used. galleryWidgetDec14
