The festive season got into full swing with the 27th Fellowship for British Hairdressing Luncheon and Awards at The Dorchester Hotel, London.

A champagne reception kicked off the event, before guests made their way into the dining room to enjoy lunch and the awards ceremony.

Starting off the speeches, Fellowship Chancellor David Drew praised his co-host Mark Creed for bringing "reinvention, vigour and new energy" to the council through his role as president.

Mark spoke of his "immense pride" at being the organisation's 33rd president, adding that the hairdressing industry, "has a heart which beats with a creativity and noise like no other".

The Fellowship's new logo was unveiled, with a refreshed strap-line of 'Creative Excellence', before David revealed a good luck message from his local MP - none other than Prime Minister David Cameron.

A video showed Fellowship event highlights from the past year, including the President's Night and the F.A.M.E. team's ventures at Salon International

Ann Herman had a surprise as she took to the stage to say grace, only to be presented with a well-deserved award for Outstanding Contribution to the Fellowship and British Hairdressing.

After guests enjoyed a delicious three-course meal, another treat came in the form of a video showing Mark Creed's meeting earlier this year with hairdressing legend Vidal Sassoon.

In the video, Vidal accepted an award for Ultimate Hair Icon, explaining "I owe so much to the Fellowship". He also emphasized the importance he places on younger hairdressers, saying "When you walk into a salon, go and talk to the kids first. They're the future of our craft".

A special bursary award involving the Sassoon Academy was then announced, details of which will be revealed in HJ next year.
