Saturday 6 September is World Beard Day - and with beards enjoying more of a presence than ever, we've plucked some fantastic facial hair facts from Barrie Stephen.

Beards have also been proven to boost self-confidence and, in the Middle Ages, touching another man's beard was considered grounds for a duel - good job those beardy blokes are brimming with confidence.
On a negative note, men with big beards are more likely to suffer hair loss and, according to a 2013 study, men with beards are seen as less generous and less cheerful than their clean-shaven counterparts.
