Doing a radio makeover - andrew barton

Andrew-Barton-radio-makeover.jpg I started the week in Istanbul doing a three-day shoot for an advertising campaign for a hair company in Turkey. That might sound glamorous, but it it was actually far from it! I had three women's hair to style; so I had to cut, colour and style their hair and then wait around for ages as they went about the shoots. We shot way until the night - the latest finish was 3am - and then were back at it by 9am so it was exhausting to say the least. I art direct so many shoots, so it is always interesting when you work with someone else, but you have to be respectful to their style and vision even if it is sometimes different to how you would have done things.I came back to a day with my bum on a seat in a marketing about Andrew Barton Shiny Happy Hair. I have monthly meetings with the accountant, the PR, the brand manager and the Managing Director. We let the accountant do the figures first and then we get down to the fun stuff! We're doing incredibly well and we're up for consumer press awards in Hair magazine, Cosmopolitan and Company magazine for best new products. Next up was a trip to Darlington for a catch up with the team and to find out what is happening in the Saks network and a visit to the Darlington Salon which was having a re-launch. Darlington salon was the first Saks salon and it's strange to think that it's grown from that to the 130 salons we have today. I was there doing a makeover live on radio! It might sound strange but it was a whole lot of fun! Basically the radio station rang me every 20 minutes or so to speak to me about what was happening and how the client was feeling. You can check out the pictures here. And to top it off, I'm ending the week with a 9-9 in the salon with my clients. The salon is what I am about and at the moment I am full booked untile September with about a waiting list of 150. I'm not complaining though. I feel like I'm at the top of my game right now. This is the pinnacle of my career and I'm enjoying every single minute of it. Next week I'm off to Greece. I'll fill you in on the next leg of my world tour next week.
