Do any of your clients have thinning hair? we discussed the benefits of trichotherapy with philip kingsley   Philip Kingsley has spent more than 60 years treating female hair loss and hair thinning. In fact, 80% of clients at his London and New York clinics suffer from some kind of female hair loss – or ‘reduced volume’ as he prefers to call it. Philip launched his ground-breaking regime Trichotherapy 12 months ago, a solution for salons that delivers incredible results. We caught up with him at his Mayfair clinic. How can losing hair make a woman feel? It affects the way they feel about themselves more than any other part of their body. Healthy, full hair signifies youth, sensuality and vitality. If a woman is losing her hair it can make her feel like she is losing her identity, attractiveness and confidence and it is very distressing. Why did you launch Trichotherapy? I wanted to help as many people as possible, so strived to create a solution that would deliver results. I spent more than seven years developing and researching a regime. Not only has Trichotherapy transformed client’s hair but it has also transformed their confidence. It’s fantastic to see that so many women are getting the results that they would previously have only achieved by visiting my clinic. So what is Trichotherapy? It is a three-step regime that addresses the issue from all angles – cosmetic, topical and nutritional. Tricho Pro is a volumising protein spray that provides instant volume while improving condition and reducing hair breakage. Tricho 7 scalp drops contain seven combined ingredients that stimulate growth from the follicle. Tricho Complex is a nutritional supplement that promotes hair growth from within and has been formulated with the unique needs of the hair in mind. Hair cells are the second fastest growing cells the body produces. However, as they are not vital for survival, hair will often be the first part of the body to suffer from a deficiency. In fact, dietary deficiencies are often the sole cause of excessive hair fall, which is why my nutritional supplement forms an essential part of the regime. PK feature Sounds exciting. How can salons get involved? Stylists often know their client’s hair best and will be the first to recognise any changes. They don’t need to be trichologists to see this but simply need the confidence to address the subject and recommend a solution. At Philip Kingsley, we offer follow-up support for salons and their clients and my experienced team are always available to answer any questions – we have the answers for just about any hair and scalp concern. How can salons use Trichotherapy to help their clients and their business? In my experience, at least two in three women will suffer from some kind of hair loss or thinning in their lifetime and stylists are most likely to notice the issue before anyone else. Clients who are experiencing hair loss and/or thinning are not likely to be overly concerned about price, especially when they see the results. However, they need to be treated as an Elite client rather than a problem. They need to have a call or email follow up, as we do for clinic clients. This support is part of what they are paying for by partnering with Philip Kingsley. Trichotherapy equates to just £2.50-£3 per day for the client – barely a cup of coffee, but can generate up to £1,000 per year incremental revenue for a salon. I don’t think you can really put a price on something that could be so life changing for the client. In fact, stylists have an obligation to their clients to give them the best advice and trust them to make effective recommendations.
