Here are some of our favourite celebrity colour chameleons, as well as expert opinions on whether their new shades work.

Cher Lloyd
"Dip-dyeing is fast becoming one of the biggest hair trends of this year. In its original incarnation on the red carpet earlier this year the effect was subtle with shades of blonde, but this look is much more dramatic. Cher has decided to go for a bubblegum pink that graduates from her natural brunette shade via a peachy blonde section. This girly mix of colours provides the perfect contrast to her punky shaved section and matches her quirky style and outgoing personality perfectly."

Lauren Conrad
"Roots are cool at the moment and Lauren is at the forefront of the trend. Although the tones in her caramel blondette shade are different, the fade between the light brown and sun-kissed champagne blonde is gradual, right down to her pale blue ends. Lauren knows how to make a trend work for her chic style by wearing it her own way."

Taryn Manning
"I think this on-trend, dip-dye effect is fun for summer and suits Taryn as her style is young, pretty and feminine. In terms of the colour choice, Taryn has chosen a seemingly random selection of pinks, reds, blues and oranges. Personally, I would be inclined to use either warm or cool tones rather than combining both - it would be very effective to use the same colour palette but range from soft to
strong hues."

Kate Bosworth
"The graduated colour effect is all the rage this season and beautiful Kate's block ends are a striking nod to the edgy trend. The gorgeous high-lift blonde shade suits her hair type and perfectly complements her bed-head style. However, while the coloured tips give her fine tresses the illusion of thickness, I'd recommend swapping the colour for a softer pastel pink that would be better suited to her skin tone, capturing a soft, feminine feel that's still fashion-forward."
