Launched in February 2024, Denman’s very first College Star Competition, dubbed Denman’s Big Blowout Competition, tasked students with submitting front, back and side images of one brilliant blow dry.
Yasmin Ainsley, a student from East Durham College, was announced as Denman’s first College Star out of hundreds of entries. After securing a prize consisting of £1000 plus a £200 tool bundle for the college hairdressing department, Yasmin proudly remarked: "I was quite happy with the blow-dry so I am glad the judges liked it."
Denman CEO Kevin McNamee commented on the results saying: "We were completely blown away by the volume and quality of the entries. We were looking for one beautifully executed blow-dry and it was incredibly hard to choose. We are so inspired by these students; the future of hairdressing is in their hands and we feel confident that each of them will go on to achieve great things. Denman is also hugely grateful to the hardworking tutors who clearly encouraged and supported their students in entering. Our winner showed that little extra polish to take the prize."
