Denman Define the Cutting Edge with ProEdge Comb The key to successful scissor-over-comb cutting is accuracy, but perfecting the art can be a challenge - which is why barber Roger Wigmore designed the innovative ProEdge comb. Working with both scissors and comb in unison for a precise finish requires a steady grip, exact positioning and a smooth technique and many beginners are understandably nervous about accomplishing this method. Launched at Salon International 2010, the ProEdge comb features a unique ledge designed to combat any cutting concerns by accurately positioning the scissors in place for a smooth, steady cut and accurate results. Suitable for use with both scissors and clippers, the ledge on the comb holds the bottom blade in place while allowing the cutting blade to move freely as it follows the comb through the hair for a fast, accurate result every time. The ledge prevents the scissors or clippers from slipping and also stops the user from accidentally inverting the comb. For clipper cutting, the curved ledge enables a smooth sweeping motion through the hair and also protects the client's ear when refining the outline of a cut. As well as giving greater confidence and control, the finely balanced comb also promotes good posture for a comfortable cutting experience, helping to reduce fatigue in the arms and shoulders by keeping the elbows low, and ensuring the hand and wrist are not in an elevated position. Mark Woolley, international brand ambassador for Denman International, says: "Cutting hair using scissor- or clipper-over-comb technique is one of the trickiest skills to master. The ProEdge is a fantastic tool for training and student work, but it's great for experienced hairdressers as well, especially if you're a barber or do a lot of highly technical or intricate short-hair work."
