David beckham named as most influential male hair by fudge Research from Fudge has revealed that British men still look to David Beckham to influence their style, as the footballer was named the most inspirational hair icon.
In research undertaken to coincide with the London Collections: Men shows, Fudge also discovered that Sir Bradley Wiggins was setting trends with his sideburns and that half of British men admitted to using their partner's hair products - with 10% confessing to using their hairdryer and straighteners.
Following David in the top five celebrity hair inspirations were Gary Barlow, Robert Pattinson, Sir Bradley Wiggins and Brad Pitt.
Other key findings from the research reveal:
  • One third of British men cite going bald as their biggest ageing concern - ahead of wrinkles, grey hair and beer bellies.
  • Half of men said that having good hair made them feel more confident, with a further third admitting that it made them feel more attractive.
  • One in ten British men admit that their partner picked their hairstyle, with one fifth trusting their other half to cut and style it for them too.
  • British men take an average of 24 minutes to perfect their hair for a big night, with Glaswegian men smashing the national average at 30 minutes.
  • There's a north-south divide when it comes to salon visits - over a third of men in Sheffield, Newcastle and Manchester visit once a month, compared to just one in ten men in Bristol and Brighton.
  • Men's biggest hair regrets - in order - were listed as skinhead, bowl cut, curtains, mullet and spikes.
