Cutting room creative hosts 2012 assistant awards

Cutting Room Creative celebrated their young, up-and-coming talent with their 2012 Assistant Awards.
Held at their flagship 5,500 sqft salon on Albion Street in Leeds, the awards saw assistants from both of the group's salons present two models each - one with commercial hair and one with a more avant-garde style.
Entrants also had to produced a moodboard showcasing their inspiration, with third-year assistants presenting these moodboards in front of the 200-strong audience of friends and family as part of the judging process.
Winners were chosen for First Year Assistant of the Year, Second Year Assistant of the Year, Third Year Assistant of the Year and Overall Assistant of the Year.
Charles Dodds, Cutting Room Creative owner and HJ's British Hairdressing Awards Hall of Fame member said: "Many salons call their young workers 'juniors' - but we don't. They are our assistants and peers of tomorrow."
And the winners were:
1st Year Assistant of the Year - Brooke
2nd Year Assistant of the Year - Jess
3rd Year Assistant of the Year - Lexi
