Curls to return this summer

Big waves and bouncing curls are making a comeback and this spring/summer we'll be seeing more texture, volume and body in hair everywhere.
We consulted session stylist and long hair expert Patrick Cameron to get his opinions on the return of the classic style. He gives his advice on the best tools to use when trying to achieve a fantastic full head of curls.
Admittedly, the latest 'straightening' irons are capable of so much more than simply straightening. However, not all clients are able to use their irons in the right way to get a mane of tumbling curl, and a decent tong is the quickest and easiest way to get the look.
Patrick Cameron is a big fan of using a tong to achieve perfect curls. "I still use tongs when working on my shows. I know that some straightening irons can give a curl effect but so often the curl is not fluid and it can look a bit square shaped," he says.

"For me, tongs are one of the easiest appliances to use and I think that they only have an old-fashioned reputation because they have been around so long. But nothing has replaced them and traditional glamour is such a big statement at the moment," adds Patrick.
To create the perfect curl, Patrick recommends starting at the root area and winding the hair onto the tong, going down the hair shaft away from the head.

"I continue winding the hair along and for the last little bit I just open up the tong lever a small amount and jiggle the tong along a fraction to take in the ends," he says.
When you consider how the straightening iron phenomenon has swept the nation over the last decade; it can only be a matter of time before tongs follow? So why not help your clients get their look by stocking the latest and most effective tongs.
