Could you be named franchisee of the year?

Lesley Charles at Hooker & Young won Franchisee of the Year at HJ's 2014 British Hairdressing Business Awards. The judges called her entry 'a strong submission that told a story' - but what did winning do for business? We find out. Why did you enter the British Hairdressing Business Awards? For me the British Hairdressing Business Awards is the ultimate opportunity to showcase another side of hairdressing - management skills and business acumen. As part of what I consider the best hairdressing brand in the industry, I wanted to showcase my talents as a businesswoman. I felt that with my experience over three decades, winning a business award would enhance my hairdressing career even further. What is the value of entering the Business Awards? For me it is credibility within the industry. It also gives our existing and new clients the absolute experience; that is not only having great hair and feeling fabulous, but also being proud to come to a salon that excels in the industry. This goes for the team too. I would say monetary-wise, winning has increased our business by a further 15% bringing in new clients from PR coverage. How did it feel to win Franchisee of the Year? It was amazing as this is the award that I most aspired to win. I felt like it was the cherry on the cake and clarified the perfect collaboration with Gary and Michael and the Hooker and Young brand. What has your win done for the business? It has created a great dynamic within the salon team and has generated so much good feeling with our clients. We have received lots of local PR coverage which has brought new clients into the salon. It has further enhanced the brand of Hooker & Young within the industry and I'm truly proud to be part of that. The judges said...
