Johanna Cree-Brown was inspired by diverse sources ranging from Joan of Arc to fencing helmets for the Corrie Nielsen Autumn/Winter 2014 collection.
Show: Corrie Nielsen Autumn/Winter 2014
Stylist: Johanna Cree-Brown at Trevor Sorbie for L'Oreal Professionnel
The inspiration: A hint of Joan of Arc but also the shapes of sleeves worn under crash helmets and the shape of fencing helmets
The look: Centre-parted hair with sections shaped into curves around the face and secured in a low ponytail at the nape.
Key product:
Get the look: Prep the hair with L'Oreal Professionnel Tecni.Art Pli for texture and blow-dry in to give some grip.
Take a cross section from ear to ear and front to back. Take a triangle from the corner of the eye to crown for the front section. Take a triangle section from the ear to middle of the nape on both sides and use a small elastic to keep hair out of the way (this is the section that is going to wrap around neck).
For the back and side sections, begin teasing the hair on top and move down through the sides in diagonal sections keeping more width around back and reducing volume at the sides so hair is flush with the face.
Brush the hair into low ponytail covering the ears, mist with Infinium 2 and secure. Apply Tecni Art Glue to the fringe section with a tinting brush to get the desired shape then work your way back using Infinium 4 spray, then Infinium 2 spray, until the last section has no product, graduating the products from wet to dry.
Shape and secure with a sectioning clip and card. Once set, wrap the neck sections around and tie under the ponytail.
