Conversations on colour: jane stacey Conversations on Colour Jane Stacey Jane Stacey is international technical director for TONI&GUY; a role which sees her teach colour courses and transform models for shoots, as well as looking after clients. Jane is also a member of the L'Oreal Professionnel 20:20 Colour Collective; an elite group of colourists from across the UK. Here, we find out more about her life in colour. 1. What do you love most about being a colourist? I love being a colourist. Working with clients or on models creating a colour which they love and which suits them and their hairstyle gives me a great feeling. Hair is the best accessory and colour can really make or break the person. 2. What do you think are the biggest challenges facing professional colourists in 2015? I think the biggest challenge is the knowledge of colour from social media and online. Clients often think that they know everything about what they should have and that it's achievable, which is not necessarily always the case. It can be very challenging! Likewise, if they have done some home colour with home colour kits and come in wanting a quick fix it can be challenging - but I do love a challenge! 3. What do you think is the most exciting thing about being a colourist in 2015? The most exciting thing in 2015 is the launch of new and progressive products that make our lives so much easier. 4. What colour trend or technique are you most excited about for 2015? I'm loving the tortoiseshell technique. It's a progression on the ombre and balayage techniques and provides a new look for more natural hair colour. 5. What one piece of advice would you give to trainee colourists who would love to be where you are now? Study, study, study... Know your products, understand hair from a colour point of view and also how to create the perfect colour for different shapes of cuts and natural colours! Also be patient with clients and listen well to want they want. BHAwidgetEnter_v2
