Clynol celebrate change at the clynol profile event 2010
<Clynol celebrated a year of change, innovation and endeavour at the Clynol Profile Event at London's luxurious Landmark Hotel.
The event began with an address from Clynol managing director Colin Sillery who said: "It is the first time since 1992 that the global hairdressing market has declined, but we're pleased to tell you that our business has gone the other way because we have made changes."
The 150-strong audience of salon owners, managers and their teams were introduced to some of those changes, which included Viton Speed 10, a range of permanent colours that take 10 minutes to develop, and a revamped Profile Hairdresser Club to reward loyal salons.
"We're trying to evolve," said Clynol business manager Nick Biggane. "It's not just about products, it's about services and things that can make a difference and it's about out attitude."
<GMTV's lifestyle guru Pete Cohen gave delegates a rousing pep talk about improving how they feel about themselves to give their clients a better experience, and left them refreshed, energised and ready to absorb the rest of the day's presentations.
Creative minds were stimulated by a seminar from Tim Scott-Wright of Lisa Shepherd Salons, HJ's Scottish Hairdresser of the Year Janer Stewart and Adam Bryant of Ethos who shared anecdotes about their careers while styling models live on stage.
And there was a sizzling debut from Clynol's Protégé team 2010. Demonstrating the character and charisma that had seen them selected for the programme, the team were coached through prep work and interviewed live on stage by team manager Jamie Farrar.
<But it was in the evening that the fun really began, starting with a presentation from Clynol's very own Three Degrees: North Western Hairdresser of the Year Sharon Peake, three-times Scottish Hairdresser of the Year Tracey Devine and double Hall of Fame member Lisa Shepherd.
Showcasing looks from their British Hairdressing Awards collections, the trio each presented three models that demonstrated their own signature style.
"I love my texture!" explained Sharon, whose three models worse quiff, one that was sleek and shiny, one with soft curls and one with loose waves.
Next Tracey used exposed hair clips to add detail to her creations that saw a two-tone bob sandwiched between two voluminous cascades of curls.
"I always feel anything I want to create is something you can take home and used in your salon. I love very beautiful and very emotional hair," was Tracey's philosophy.
"I've missed you," exclaimed Lisa as her models strutted down the catwalk to the tones of Cheryl Cole's Fight For This Love and accompanied by her dancers.
The looks ranged from an extravagant fishtail plait to a head of 80s-style platinum curls and Lisa commented: "This is the epitome of what I think is going with hair. It is super glamorous."
Then it was over to celebrity host ClaudiaWinkleman to reward Clynol's star performers of the last 12 months with the business and creative awards before she lead guests to the bar, signally that it was time for the partying to commence.
