Classic men's hair icons - who would you choose?

Helping Rachael Gibson put together a list of the most glamorous female film stars of cinema's golden age got me thinking about who the classic male icons of the film world would be.James Dean has to be on the list, obviously - his look from seminal teen movie Rebel Without a Cause is still relevant today, and the man remains one of the ultimate male icons, despite dying after making just three films. (in fact he died before finishing Giant and his vocals had to be dubbed in some of his final scenes).
Another brooding believer in the method acting approach, Montgomery Clift also gets my vote. His look was more classic than Dean's, but his haunted expression gave him an edge which made it cool - even when playing a Catholic priest with a murderous secret in Hitchcock's I Confess!
Less smoldering and more quaffed, Tony Curtis made texture and curls fashionable at a time when slick was the hair by-word for men.Check out this loving montage to see just how versatile Tony was back in his day.
Who would your classic male hair icons be - and which newcomers have usurped them in the hair style stakes?
