Christofer mann step up and shine scholarship provides free education

The Christofer Mann Step Up and SHINE Scholarship is a joint initiative from the Fellowship for British Hairdressing and The National Hairdressers’ Federation, created to offer one lucky UK hairdresser a year of bespoke education, for free. The recipient of The Christofer Mann Step Up and SHINE Scholarship - named for the late industry legend - will receive a bespoke education package worth £2,500, valid for one year and including all expenses and a mentor to help them plan their programme. Step Up and SHINE mentor, Debbie G, says: "This is such an exciting initiative. Christofer was a huge supporter of grass-roots hairdressing and believed wholeheartedly in the concept of education for all. The Step-Up & SHINE Scholarship is open to any stylist, or assistant of any age and any level, anywhere in the UK. No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm to learn." To enter, apply here! • The scholarship will be awarded to one hairdresser each year with any level of experience, of any age and in any location.

• The competition to select the 2014 candidate kicks off in October 2013.

• Anyone interested in applying (or wishing to nominate a colleague or friend) is asked to record a 1 minute video on a smartphone or recording device explaining why they love hairdressing and why they would be a great candidate. Find out more the application process here!

• Deadline date is 31st January 2014.

• After the deadlinea panel of judges will choose a shortlist of potential candidates. Each of those finalists will be notified and given a slot during February or March 2014 during which a rep from the NHF will visit to observe them working and to conduct a short, informal but carefully standardised interview. From the results a winner will be chosen.

• The winner of the Christofer Mann Step-Up & SHINE Scholarship for 2014 will then be announced at The Fellowship’s President Night in April 2014.
