Children and hairdressing.....not always a good mix

All parents know children can have an 'off' day when it comes to behaviour, but would you really take three small children to the salon whilst you are getting your colour done and let them run riot?

On a recent salon visit, this is exactly what I witnessed. Children whizzing up and down the salon on cutting stools, screaming, running around without any parent intervention or the hint of some distraction therapy such as a colouring books, comics or an electronic game - I was horrified that the salon team, and other clients, had to endure this kind of behaviour. You can't blame the children - who clearly know no better - but you can blame the parent who quite frankly should be ashamed.

It had never crossed my mind before that perhaps a policy on children would be needed by a salon, as I had hoped that parents would simply know better, but it would seem that this is not always the case.

One thing it did reaffirm for me was just how patient and adaptable you need to be to work with the general public on a daily basis. Clients can be rude and difficult and some complain for no apparent reason and with grace and skill, situations are dealt with calmly and efficiently. Long may this professionalism continue and congratulations to all on your patience!

I would really like to hear how your salon deals with this type of situation - the parent here clearly did not think there was a problem, but everyone else did!
