Chichester salon Q Hair and Beauty have had a wealth of achievements to celebrate over the years, so an extra special event to mark their 50th anniversary was certain to be another splendid occasion to remember.
Since Anthony Barnes-Smith opened its doors five decades ago, Q has been Chichester’s leading salon group, winning numerous prestigious awards.
The glittering milestone anniversary celebration on 14 August was held at the luxury Goodwood Hotel, at globally renowned Goodwood Estate, attended by 80 guests – including past and present Q team members – who mingled, laughed about years gone by and eventually took their seats in a beautifully decorated quintessential marquee, complete with memorabilia of years in Q’s history.
Reflecting on the important part that a strong team has played in the salon’s success for so long, Q decided to include a motivational element in the celebrations, including speakers on innovation and leadership, with a key speech from Donna Ockenden, one of British Vogue’s 25 Most Inspirational Women, who gave a talk about her life journey. Debbie Digby delivered inspiration around the topic of leadership while Youtube sensation @craigsworldofhair presented best practices in the craft of hairdressing
Awards were presented to current team members for their hard work and commitment. Their names will be inscribed in a special Wooden Honours Board which will be on display in the salon.
Then it was time for everyone to switch into party mode, with a mouth-watering barbecue feast and dancing until midnight.
As part of the year’s celebrations, Q are fundraising to plant a memorial tree in Oaklands Park, Chichester, costing around £600. Planting is likely to take place in spring 2023, with Q team members attending.
“Celebrating a legacy, with faces old and new, half a century, 50 years of solid independent business in Chichester driven by Anthony. It was both an honour and pleasure to host the day and enjoy making further memories to our already very exciting journey,” said managing director, Dawn Lawrence.
