Cheryl v dannii the big hair-off round one

Tonight is one of the most eagerly-awaited hair events of the year: the hair-off between Cheryl and Dannii on the X Factor live shows.

Dannii may have spent the last week telling every radio show that would listen that she hasn't even thought about what she'll be wearing or how she'll be styling her versatile locks, but based on the their first appearances one thing is clear: Cheryl and Dannii are clearly going to be pulling out all the stops to prove that they have the hottest locks on the television.

Tonight, Cheryl's gone for an on-trend ponytail with height around the crown to avoid the dreaded Croydon facelift. I say top marks. I'm not a big fan of her too big for her head and body extensions so this look works perfectly.

Dannii's also very on-trend with her newly-highlighted locks styled loose tousled waves pinned back in a loose chignon. It doesn't live up to the highs of last year and personally I prefer her darker. But if I look that good three months after my bump arrives I'll be a happy lady!

Winner round one: Cheryl edges this one. Dannii's look ages her which just leaves Cheryl looking cooler and sexier.
