Crops have been enjoying a celebrity revival over the last couple of years, and now short styles are set to get shorter with pixie crops enjoying an A-list moment.
And from Burberry models to acting royalty, sure enough, short hair has been getting shorter. We spoke to regular British Hairdresser of the Year nominees Gary Hooker and Michael Young about why the pixie is perfect for Spring/Summer 2011.
"Recent years have seen short hair making a big impact on hair trends, but none has been quite so daring as the new pixie crop. While short back and sides have been popular with heavy top layers, sweeping fringes and under-cuts, we now see short styles being short all over."
"Although it sounds drastic, it can look incredibly feminine and sophisticated, with soft outlines and textured edges making it more elfin than extreme."

The pixie cut first had a moment in the swinging sixties, with Jean Seberg rocking a baby buzz cut in A Bout De Souffle and Mia Farrow looking cute with a Sassoon crop in Rosemary's Baby.

It girl of the moment Zelda Williams rocks a glossy back pixie, complete with a softly shattered sweeping fringe, while Harry Potter actress Emma Watson made headlines across the globe when she lopped of her long locks for this refreshing cut.

Burberry model Nina Porter and actress Michelle Williams both sport super short styles, with a textured finish and disconnected fringe for both adding a quirky touch.

And proving the versatility of the pixie, but Judi Dench and Halle Berry have adapted the cut with added length on the top offering the potential to style this short look in a variety of ways; adding height, movement, and texture.
