As the Queen celebrates 60 years on the throne, we look back at the changing celebrity hairstyles which have influenced hairdressing trends, clients and photographic collections since her reign began - starting with the flirty fifties.
When Queen Elizabeth took to the throne in 1952, rationing was still in place and the glamour of Hollywood offered a welcome spot of escapism for a nation still recovering from World War II.
While colours may have been primitive and styles entailed hours sitting in the salon getting hair set in place, many women happily endured their weekly visits to the local hairdresser in a bid to recreate the styles seen on their big screen idols.
Hairdresser Robert Masciave says: "The hairstyles of the 1950s were all about sex and glamour; emphasising the gender boundaries. Pin curls, finger waves and high-maintenance looks were donned by all the style icons creating flawless looks."
Jayne Mansfield
"Jayne was the ultimate glamourous sex symbol of the 50s and a classic blonde bombshell. Her voluminous curls played a large part in making her the icon she became."
Grace Kelly
"Grace is my favourite American beauty and was known for her perfectly coiffed and elegant waves throughout the era. She is a template for beauty and elegance and there are elements of her look in a lot of my work."

Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn's renowned Marcel waves made her as much of a sex symbol of the 50s as her acting roles and she wore them at all times as an extension of her own self."
Lauren Bacall
"Lauren became synonymous for her pin curls and sultry looks making her one of the most well-known beauty icons of the decade."
