Cascading curls a spring/summer celebrity favourite

Inspired in part by the revival of retro Hollywood hair and in part by this season's trend for ethereal, mermaid-style curls, this look spells pure glamour.
With an emphasis on the asymmetric styles popularised by the likes of Veronica Lake in the 1940s, curls are worn long, glossy, and slung over one shoulder.
A loose, unstructured shape to the curls and a super shiny finish keeps this look super-glamorous, and flattering on just about every face shape.
Here are some of our favourite A-list takes on the trend...

Bryce Dallas Howard
"I love Bryce's subtle take on the ombré technique which fuses mahogany spiced brunette through to softer cinnamon tones. The clever colour adds definition and texture to the ends of this sophisticated 1950's-inspired look. The colour and style is groomed and glamorous and suits Bryce's porcelain complexion beautifully."

Joely Richardson
"Joely's hair looks strong and healthy; this is helped by the solid, blunt baseline and less layers which helps it look full. The colour is a perfect combination of a light but not brassy shade, which adds up to a flattering, sophisticated blonde. This demure, elegant look is enhanced with flowing, glossy curls. I would recreate these curls by using heated bendy rollers to help maintain the fullness."
Kim Rance, Clipso, Watford, Hertfordshire

Kim Kardashian
"Kim's hair is always spot on. She obviously knows how to look after her lustrous locks as the colour is always glossy and fresh. The ebony shade really works for her, although I would like to see her colour warmed up a little - maybe by adding a little chocolate into the mix. Her styling is very Hollywood starlet and the cascading waves are right on-trend."
Chris Gunby, Creme Hair and Beauty, Oakham, Rutland
Ashley Greene
"Ashley's colour is a lovely rich shade that brings out the colour of her eyes and matches her skin tone perfectly. The style is a beautiful vintage-inspired 1950's look that's hot at the moment and bang on trend for the red carpet. I would change the front section though, which is a touch too harsh. A softer sweep across the forehead would soften it perfectly."
