Byron hairdressing goes back to the 1920's for charity day

The flappers were out in force at Byron Hairdressing on Sunday (15 September) as the team dressed up to the nines for a 1920s-themed charity day that raised more than £3,300. The money, in aid of cancer care charity Maggie’s, broke all previous records for Byron’s in-salon events. The Kirkcaldy-based salon has supported Maggie’s with an annual charity event for more than a decade. This year, following trends for sleek, cocktail party glamour portrayed to excellent effect in The Great Gatsby movie released earlier this year, the team decided to go back to the Roaring Twenties, dressing for the part and offering clients a choice of cocktails and cakes. As well as doing haircuts in return for donations to Maggie’s, the salon raised further funds with a raffle, offering stunning prizes including a year’s free cutting and styling appointments, as well as a range of beauty treatments and pampering services donated by local businesses. The day was a sell-out success, with every appointment booked weeks ago, and clients dropping in regularly to pick up raffle tickets. This year’s total of £3312.50 means Byron has raised more almost £23,000 For Maggie’s since the first charity day event, in 2000. Owner Ronnie Marshal said: ‘It was great fun, with everyone, team and clients alike, getting into the spirit. And, of course, it’s fantastic to be able to support Maggie’s, which does excellent work for all those affected by cancer. The team were phenomenal, giving up their Sunday, and I’d like to give a special thanks to all our lovely clients who booked in to make it an unforgettable day.’
