The brightest business brains of the British hairdressing industry got their gladrags on and congregated at the Lancaster London to celebrate their successes the last 12 months at HJ's British Hairdressing Business Awards.

Hosted by the delectable Dan Lobb, sports presenter on ITV's Daybreak, and Jayne-Lewis-Orr; the evening was a mixture of humour, great networking opportunities and very worthy winners.

The team's at HJ and HJi and our friends in the Twitterati kept you up-to-date with all the news and gossip as it happened. But in case you missed it, here's a re-cap of how the fab night panned out.

9:51 HJi: Apparently Dan was once a model for Guy Kremer at a hair show - dressed in a frilly white shirt and jodhpurs - might have him prepared for the Strictly costumes. He's had his first Strictly training session today and is clearly relishing it.
9:53 HJi: His Strictly gossip is... he's got none! He reckons Robbbie Savage has the best hair. I think he has a different barometer to me! And (shock) Nancy Dell'Olio is the diva. Holly Valance is apparently a bit of a lad. He says that's a disappointment, but I'd have thought that w ould go down well with most guys! Lulu is his early tip to win, so if you're a gambler, you heard it here first...

9:58 HJi: ...after all the jokes, it gets to the serious stuff. Hairdressing turns around £5.2billion in the UK and he thinks it looks like a lot of fun to work in. Dan says that tonight's winners are the cream of the crop so a big well done in advance!

10:04 HJi: First up it's Salon Design Award. They all look stunning and well thought out, but the winner, presented by Aston and Fincher, is Angels, Aberdeen. "The salon breaks the mould and is completely client focused," Dan explains
10:06 HJi: "It's lovely to see how much these awards mean to you guys," says Dan. He's right.

10:15 HJi: There is rapturous applause! The Trevor Sorbie tables are clearly ready for a good night. "The team work hard to maintain Trevor's standards," says Kate. She's very modest - sounds like she's a star.
