"It's important to show all aspects of hair; strong graphic shapes, editorial shots and simply beautiful work incorporating young, vibrant energy."

"My favourite image from my collection is the short blonde with a plait through the side, and a quiff on the top; it's simple and I just love it."

Andy Heasman, artistic director, Rush Hair

"Working as a team requires strong art direction so that everyone knows the style, concept and ultimate goal."

"Organisation is essential for any shoot but for an artistic team shoot everyone needs to know who has been booked in terms of photographer, models, stylist and make-up artist."

"It's important not to over complicate a look; find a focal point of the style you are creating and the image will progress from there. Once you set a good technique, you can capture the essence of your inspiration and produce incredible images."

"It is important that every element of the shoot from styling to make-up and hair all come together to tell the same story and embody the theme."

"My favourite image shows the progression of colour from a deep brown to a peach hue. This model experienced the biggest colour change, and the finished result was beautiful and on brand."
