in Bristol had a novel approach to choosing who would put together their shoot for the South Western Hairdresser of the Year in this year's British Hairdressing Awards: they held a photographic competition for the team.

The idea behind the competition was to find the keenest, most creative talent from within the team and to give an equal opportunity for all.

Bonimi drafted in an expert judging panel of leading hair and beauty PR Louise Wood; local Clifton Life magazine editor Victoria Green and a local photographer 'Sorya', to select who would create their Awards photographic entry.

"Funding a shoot for us is a huge deal as a single independent salon with 16 staff," says Egidia Bonomini. "So we wanted this to be something the salon could share.

"To help the whole team to buy into it, and to give everyone a fair chance to be chosen to work on our major shoot, we threw a competition evening inviting everyone in the salon to show what they can do."

The artistic trio of Sam Bell, Amy Gregory and Henry Whittle were ultimately selected as the shoot team.
