Blue Tit London Launches New Afro & Textured Hair Services In All Salons

BCorp certified salon collective Blue Tit has introduced afro and textured hair services to their 10 London salons. After more than a year of intensive training and preparation, Blue Tit is now able to offer services for all hair types. Blue Tit’s lead educator for afro and textured hair, Pashcan’el Mitchell,  recently joined the team and has taken over the training programme. Blue Tit has been working closely with afro and textured hair care specialists Avlon, since 2021, to bring the training to life. Pash says: “I’ve always believed that hair is a medium for style and with the right techniques, we can add on to the natural qualities of hair and enhance it further. Blue Tit’s training programme focuses on understanding the needs of afro and textured hair while bringing out its best qualities through trained methods.”

New to Blue Tit, a range of Avlon products including KeraCare, Affirm, FiberGuard, Affirmcare and Texture Release will be used for the new services. The training modules at the Blue Tit Academy are expansive, detailed and hands-on to equip the Blue Tit staff with a complete knowledge on how to care for afro and textured hair. The modules covered include styling, cutting, colouring, product knowledge, braiding, texture release, and silk press.

Consistently setting new standards to make permanent improvements within the collective and the wider industry, Blue Tit took the initiative to introduce these services into its salons in an effort to upskill and diversify its stylists as part of its ongoing inclusivity goals to welcome customers with all types of hair. “This is the start for Blue Tit to be more inclusive and represent the communities our salons are based in. With continued training and Pash leading our education, we hope to diversify our clients and teams, which will make Blue Tit a more welcoming and vibrant place to be,” Matt Gebbie, director at Blue Tit enthused.
