Black beauty/wahl hair awards 2009 winners revealed
More than 500 of the country's top Afro hairstylists and professionals gathered at the Hilton London Metropole for the 15th Black Beauty/Wahl Hair Awards.
Promising to be an evening of glamour, excitement and entertainment, the night was compered by MTV presenter Kat, with entertainment provided by comedian Funmbi and singer Sadie Ama.
The guests were also treated to the Hurricane Hair Show, produced by the Avlon European artistic team, which featured styles from a selection of the finalists - Michelle Thompson, Junior Green, Jackie McIntosh, Janet Thompson Shalani Williams and Junior Stay.
Following the entertainment, the eagerly awaited Black Beauty/Wahl Hair Awards 2009 ceremony got underway.
More than 150 stylists had entered the awards, with 60 making the finals. Abena Richardson from Asquared salon won the top award, Stylist of the Year, and was presented the trophy by Matthew Smith, Head of Marketing and Finance Wahl UK.
"I've always been behind the Black Beauty/WAHL Hair Awards and have mentored my team to enter," said Abena.
"I love creating looks with afro hair and I am delighted and honored to receive this award."
