Anneka Rowsell from Mawson & Company, in Winchester asks her icon Beverly C about her illustrious career.
Anneka: What do you like the most about your job?
Beverly: The diversity. From TV to photo shoots, to flying around the world educating and presenting, and at home spending time with my clients and my team.
Anneka: Who is your icon in the industry?
Beverly: I admire lots of people for different reasons.
Anthony Mascolo,
Trevor Sorbie,
Robert Lobetta, and
Eugene Souleiman are all highly creative and not afraid to break the boundaries.
Anneka: Was being the first woman to win
HJ’s British Hairdresser of the Year award your best achievement?
Beverly: Absolutely. It was and is
the pinnacle of everything I’ve done so far. It made any blood, sweat and tears shed worthwhile and I’m pleased that women have since been equally recognised in the industry.
Anneka: What inspires you?
Beverly: Catwalks, photography and imagery. But, most importantly
my team – the people around me who make my ideas come to life.
Anneka: Describe your signature style?
Beverly: Beautiful, sexy hair with an edge.
Anneka: What advice would you give to someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?
Beverly: You must have
passion, persistence, and
patience. Be focused and don’t be afraid to ask people for help and guidance. The
Fellowship for British Hairdressing has been very important to me in this respect.
Anneka: What is your favourite part of the industry?<
Beverly: I love all of it, but I especially enjoy
new creative concepts – for shows and shoots – and seeing them come to life.
