Barron celebrating 50 years as london's top independent salons There aren't many independent salons who can stay on top of their business for 50 years, especially in the rapidly changing beauty and styling industry. Yet David Barron the owner of Barron salon, on Muswell Hill Broadway will celebrate the 5oth anniversary since starting his hairdressing business. In September 1969, he opened his first salon and called it 'One Step Ahead'. David's vision then as a 20 year old Vidal Sasson trained hairdresser was to revolutionise men's hairdressing. David developed his own unique cutting technique to style men's hair into longer fashions and styles. His cuts became demanded by both men and woman alike, transforming one of his very first unisex salons in London. In 1975, he was invited to style on the famous beach, St Tropez, cutting hair of  famous celebrities. The publicity this generated, helped to launch his advancing haircutting training salon in North London on his return from the island. During his career, David has achieved many diverse accomplishments such as; writing a regular lifestyle column for the Musewell Hill Record, running his own hairdressing training studio, as well as organising a fashion show for Capital Radio's 'Help A London Child' charity. Over the years, he has won both hairdressing and photographic competitions, including the prestigious British Hairdressing Awards for his unique salon photography concept; The Master Photographers Association's London Fashion Photographer of the Year Award. Barron salon on Muswell Hill Broadway is currently showcasing an exhibition of David's work as a hairdresser and photographer over the past 50 years.
