If your salon is on the small side, don't make the backwash an afterthought. When space is at a premium, it's perhaps more important than ever to consider the practicalities of your interior.
Chairs in the ultra-compact Baltic range from REM (from £540) are just 125cm long by 58cm wide. But there's no compromise on style and, for a distinctive look, the upholstery can be finished in the colour of your choice.
Also proving that small can be stylish, the aluminium Victoria wash unit from the Salon Equipment Centre (from £1,296) measures just 120cm by 65cm. Putting the emphasis on design, rather than its diminutive frame, this futuristic piece of furniture will make a statement in any salon.
Separate pieces, such as the Maccow backwash chair from Takara Belmont (from £1,560), also offer a solution for compact salons. This separate seat is sturdy and comfortable and can be used in conjunction with your existing sink, or the appropriate optionfrom Takara Belmont.
If you're really short on space, consider a mobile backwash unit, such as the RS Oasis from Moda Salon Interiors (from £1,439). Available in a variety of colours, this independent shampooing system consists of a movable upper unit and floor-level docking station. It's there when you need it, and can be stashed away when no longer required, increasing floor space.
