The managing director and salon group owner of Janet Maitland Hair Excellence and
Schwarzkopf Professional's Shaping Futures UK ambassador, Janet Maitland has sadly passed away. She was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her and it comes as sad news for us all.
Janet was named HJ's Business Director of the Year at HJ's 2018 British Hairdressing Business Awards and used her win to promote the amazing volunteer work she carried out for Schwarzkopf Professional Shaping Futures as well as the importance of caring for every member of her salon team.
Janet's team posted a heartfelt tribute to Janet on the Janet Maitland Hair Excellence website which said: "She was an inspiration who was loved by so many and will be sadly missed. It was Janet’s wish that no flowers be sent, but she requests that donations be made to the salon’s fundraising account, so they can be sent to the causes she and Peter are most passionate about."

HJ's editor Laura Husband shared a personal tribute to Janet. She said:
"My thoughts are sincerely with Peter, the rest of Janet's family, her friends and all of those who had the pleasure of working with her over the years. She had an infectious smile, a real passion for the hairdressing industry and giving back to those around her - whether it was giving help and support to her team or by travelling overseas to help those who really needed it. I remember when I asked her what she had learned during her career so far and she said 'to be happy and enjoy every day,' which says it all. The hairdressing industry has lost a real gem who will be greatly missed by myself and the rest of the HJ team."
