Aveda UK got the annual Earth Month charity initiative off to an impressive start, raising over £4,000 on their first day of fundraising for 2012.

All staff at the Aveda Institute in London came into work for free on Sunday 1 April, tending to the hair, beauty and holistic needs of more than 90 clients in just one day.

The Earth Month campaign sees Aveda salons across the globe commit to charitable fundraising, through the sale of products and through special events. Since its launch in 1999, over $14million has been raised for Earth Month projects.

This year the UK target is £150,000 and with this bumper first day, Aveda looks set to be on track for reaching their goal.

Salon manager, Mette Haxthausen said: "I am so proud of all the team and the feedback from our guests has been fantastic - people really admire and appreciate what we are doing and the importance of our cause. Now we are all looking forward to London's Walk for Water later in the month."
