Changing seasons mean it’s time to rethink the cosmetics palette. Sasha Lill looks at what’s new. As the days get shorter and the nights draw in, it’s time to replace the natural hues of summer with the smouldering looks of autumn/winter – and the party season. Hot looks are luminous skin with contrasting, smoky eyes and statement lipsticked lips. Aveda Masters Colors opts for a colour palette of warm, rich tones (light taupe, delicate shimmering gold, and deep purple), with rich textures. Cashmere Colors is a capsule collection of nine shades and includes: two metallic eye shadows (Smooth Eye Color in Aubergine/Lilac and Bronze/Gold) and a neutral Smoothing base, presented in a mirrored trio compact. For lips, there are two Plump & Color sticks in Rosewood and Gold. Combining care and colour, these double-sided pencils provide the hydrating plumping actions of marine collagen at one end, with a subtle colour at the other. Lips bloom with a combination of Radiance Gloss (berry), and complementing waterproof lipliner pencil, while shades of mauve, coppery bronze and sludgy green enhance the eyes. For cheeks (and shoulders, eyelids and temples), Precious Pearls (shimmery balls of colour available in gold or silver) add an iridescent veil of colour. Forest Colour Quartet for Eyes consists of four shimmery, gold-lit tones of khaki and bronze, soft olive and copper – teamed with liquid eyeliners, eye pencils (Gold and Mauve), and striking plum-coloured mascara.
