Assistants set the standard

I have just judged the Assistants Competition at Hooker & Young and the standard of work is fantastic - with entrants with experience ranging from two months to two years, each had to create a mood board and then implement their look live. The standard of finishing was superb and huge congratulations to them all......waiting now to see what's in store in the Stylist Competition.......

We all know that hairdressers are often multi-talented and this morning I got to see first hand, Gary Hooker's other love - his beautiful dogs. As we walked four Great Danes and a variety of smaller breeds, I was in awe as Gary reeled off the awards that the Danes had won including Best in Breed at Cruft's, Great Dane of the Year and Puppy of the Year - quite literally beautiful.
