Angelo seminara creates hair sushi
So when HJ asked him to create an exclusive fashion collection for the magazine, he knew just what he wanted to achieve.
"I had an idea a long time ago to play with colours to do something that looks almost like sweets, almost like the inside of a sushi roll.
"In the studio, I tried to produce this."
Turning a concept from an idea in Angelo's head into beautiful photographic images can be a lengthy process, but Angelo says that it is vital to get the preparation right.
"It has taken me about a week to develop this idea, but it can take two to three months to develop a collection." he adds. "One of the most important things that I always try to bear in mind is the preparation for the shoot.
"Preparation is so important when you try to create something new. It doesn't just happen and it isn't just about taking a photograph and recreating it.
"The first thing you need to do is put some thoughts into what you are doing and finalising the idea and finalising the technique - how you are going to achieve the idea?
"Then you have to put together a team and arrange a casting. They are all elements that are really crucial to the final image."
With the planning all expertly put into place, how did Angelo go about realising his sushi hair vision?
"To achieve this look we have found a really good technique, which I have called the 'sushi roll technique'," he explains.
"We put different layers of hair and rolled them together and then cut them. As you cut the shapes, the hair, which has been crimped, expands and you get the beautiful colours. As you cut it with a pair of clippers you see all the shapes coming through."
