Monday at the British Hairdressing Awards was a day full of angst, nervousness and anxiousness for me. When Jayne Lewis-Orr invited me up on to stage to speak about my year as British Hairdresser of the Year and hand over the award, I spoke from the heart when I said that I hoped I would be taking the responsibility on for another year.

Throughout the year I tried to be great ambassador and a good spokesperson and tried to showcase British hairdressing as the best in the world through my international travels with the Saks Art TeamMy deep care for the Benevolent means it is something that I have tried to create as much awareness for as possible, after all it’s our charity. In 2008, I will continue to do so, but I will also be taking on breast cancer as my chosen charity to work with. One of the reasons, I have decided to support breast cancer awareness if that it affects so many of our female colleagues their friends and families and, of course, our clients. I realise that people know who I am and I want to use that and I look forward to doing my bit for the charity in the year ahead.Though disappointed not to retain the title, I was delighted for the new British Hairdresser of the Year whose pictures showed great hair art and creativity. Art and creativity, along with communication and education, make British hairdressing the best in the world.I congratulate Angelo and all the other winners and hope that they too will be able to embrace their win, like I did, and use it to further their careers, their potential and their team's reputation. Please check into my blog next week for some more exciting news. I might not be the British Hairdresser of the Year but it is onwards and upwards with new exciting projects around the corner... so much to do, not enough time in a day ! Might have to go on a time managaement course... hahaha!
