Andrew barton shears the shepherdess and her flock Andrew Barton journeyed to his home, Yorkshire, and the rural dales for a special appointment with Amanda Owen, Shepherdess, author and star of the Channel 5 series Our Yorkshire Farm. Andrew is currently the creative and education director of Headmasters. He made the trip in partnership with Yorkshire based business magazine Topic UK and the online platform Yorkshire businesswoman to give Amanda's flowing tresses a long-awaited transformation. Andrew Barton & Amanda Owen Amanda's chopped locks went to a good cause. Her hair has been donated to the Little Princess Trust, of which Andrew is the Hairdressing ambassador and Headmasters is the official Hairdressing Salon Supporter. This charity was formed in memory of Hannah Tarplee in 2006. Two years prior, she had been diagnosed with a Wilms Tumour. The loss of hair resulting from this was traumatic. Due to a lack of NHS provision, her parents struggled to find a suitable wig for her during treatment. In tribute to her, they set up the Little Princess Trust. They provide real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair during treatments for various conditions. The charity gives hope whilst also funding vital research into childhood cancers After seeing the wonderful example set by their mother, five of Amanda's nine children also wanted to give their long hair to the charity too. Andrew was moved by the gesture. " It was so wonderful, if a little overwhelming, that all the girls wanted to be like Mum. Their kindness will help put the smiles on the faces of another child as the wigs donated by the Little Princess Charity are made from up to 12 donations."

Andrew has worked his magic once again.

Amanda is already looking forward to the benefits of the family chop. "It is a nightmare each morning getting the girls to brush their long hair. Their new shorter styles no only make them look cute, their hair will be much more manageable and less of a drama for me trying to get the knots out!" Andrew Barton & Amanda OwenAndrew was extremely considerate when choosing a style for Amanda. "I've created a look for her which is easy to manage whether she is tying it back to shear a sheep or needs to look fabulous quickly without too much effort". The transformation was a resounding success. Amanda said "I am so thrilled with my new haircut. I wish I had taken the plunge and had it cut years ago." The change of scenery from a sleek salon to bustling barnyard was an adjustment for Andrew. He said "I've cut hair in some challenging places before, but I think Amanda's barn is definitely the most interesting, with chickens, sheep and even a peacock watching us". Some of those spectators wanted in on the action. With Andrew on a roll, he ended up shearing two sheep! The perfect way to round off a hairdresser's visit to the farm.
