It's not hyperbolic to say that
Amazon have revolutionised the way that we shop online. The speed in which you can browse, order and have things delivered – from milk to a television – has made everyone shop faster and expect everything quicker. And these shopping habits are now being made available to hair and beauty therapists in the US via the site's latest launch, Amazon Professional Beauty Store.
With this launch the online marketplace is hoping to become the go-to online place for US beauty therapists, colourists and hairstylists to purchase their tools of the trade.
"We are pleased to offer those in the professional beauty industry even more selection through the convenient shopping experience our customers love on Amazon Business," said Steve Kann, the company's Director of Customer Driven Experience,
in a blog regarding the launch. "Stylists can find more of what they need at great prices with convenient delivery options, freeing up their time to focus on what's important: their customers."
Currently, to be able to buy from the US Amazon Professional Beauty Store you must hold a state-issued cosmetology, barber, or aesthetician licence. In the US, the beauty industry is licence and regulated, something that the
Hair and Barber Council are fighting for in the UK.
It's unknown whether there are plans for this section of Amazon to become available in the UK yet. If the company does decide to launch this across the pond, until the UK industry requires licensing they will have to find another way of ensuring the customer is truly apart of the trade and not buying products for personal use.
