UK hairdressing is the best in the world, but it's not just about the top names and celebrity stylists. We find out more about one of hairdressing's rising stars to find out who inspires them.
Name: Ryan Wood
Age: 30
Job title: Art director
Place of work: Richardson's Hair, Northampton
Training: NVQ Level 2 and 3 and diplomas with both Sassoon and Toni&Guy
Best advice ever given: You only become a better player by playing better players.
Career highlight: Working backstage at the Temperley London show at London Fashion Week as a member of the Wella Professionals Generation NOW team. It's always been an ambition of mine to do fashion week.
Favourite celebrity hair: I know I shouldn't but I quite like Amy Winehouse's thatch - it's very distinctive.
Best part of the job: Doing something I love, being creative, meeting people and being able to change the way they think or feel with my work.
In the next five years... I hope to realise my true potential.
Hair hero: Martyn Holmes is a pretty cool guy and Robert Lobetta is always an inspiration.
Worst part of the job: Working Saturdays!
My inspiration comes from: Looking back through history and watching real people on the street - it's fashion and culture in its raw form.
If I wasn't a hairdresser I would be: A professional footballer or a model. Unfortunately neither of those happened! Being a hairdresser is definitely a great alternative.
