UK hairdressing is the best in the world, but it's not just about the top names and celebrity stylists. We find out more about one of hairdressing's rising stars to find out who inspires them.
Name: Lindsay Grossman
Age: 26
Job title: Senior colour technician and member of the HOB Salons Young Creative Team
Training and qualifications: NVQ training and Wella Professionals Master Colour Programme
Place of work: HOB Salons
Best advice ever given: Do everything to the best of your ability and never compromise.
Career highlight: Winning the Wella Professionals 2009 Trend Vision UK Color Award
Favourite celebrity hairstyle: I love the unstructured trend that is popular at the moment, from loose plaits to the high, on the crown top knots, as seen on The Hills star, Whitney Port.
Best part of your job: Being creative day in, day out, and putting my own signature on the looks I create. Making someone feel beautiful and more confident is really rewarding.
In the next five years I want to: Grab every opportunity there is and progress in this creative industry. The ultimate dream would be to win the Schwarzkopf Professional British Colour Technician title at HJ's British Hairdressing Awards.
My hairdressing hero is: Annie Humphreys
Worst part of the job: In such a competitive industry, you always have to be on top of your game. I think the hardest part for me is to actually be content with what I have already done and achieved. I always want more and can be a bit of a perfectionist.
My inspiration comes from: Fashion. I enjoy researching the latest trends from fabrics to accessories, and interpreting those looks into beautiful hair.
If I wasn't a hairdresser I would be: Either a window dresser of fashion merchandiser - anything to feed my love of creativity.
