UK hairdressing is the best in the world, but it's not just about the top names and celebrity stylists. We find out more about one of hairdressing's rising stars to find out who inspires them.
Name: Jonathan Andrew
Job title: Style director
Place of work: Cox McMillan, Clapham
Training and qualifications: NVQ Levels 1 and 2; Diplomas in hair extensions, colour and colour correction.
Best advice ever given: A quote by Vidal Sassoon always sticks out: "The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary."
Career highlight: Getting a place on the ghd artistic team has been a great opportunity. I have done lots of work both in the UK and overseas, including a show in Milan which was featured on the Vogue Italia website.
Favourite celebrity style: Rihanna. I love her look as she constantly evolves and wears it her own way.
In the next five years I want to... Push myself as far as I can go, learning as much as I can from as many people as I can, and try and pick up a few awards in the process.
Best part of the job: The shows, the shoots, the tours - the buzz of it all makes this industry the best in the world. There are so many opportunities.
Worst part of the job: There isn't a worst part. I love what I do - it's the best job in the world.
My inspiration comes from... Kanye West. He constantly reinvents himself and evolves, while continuing to push boundaries.
Hairdressing hero: Anita Cox McMillan and Thomas McMillan are very dear to me as they have taught and guided me throughout my career. I'm also a fan of Angelo Seminara, Mark Hayes and Akin Konizi, as they produce really inspiring images.
