UK hairdressing is the best in the world, but it's not just about the top names and celebrity stylists. We find out more about one of hairdressing's rising stars to find out who inspires them.
Name: Christian Howley
Age: 22
Job title: Creative hair stylist and ambassador for Beever Hair
Place of work: City Gent, Leeds
Training and qualifications: NVQ 1 and 2; member of the British Hairdressing team, holding 14 gold and three silver medal awards, as well as the title of Under 25 British Champion
Best advice ever given: Confucius said: "Choose a job you love and you'll never have to work a day in your life."
Career highlight: Working on Gok Wan's Fashion RoadShow with Jamie Stevens.
Favourite celebrity hairstyle: It has to be Frankie Sandford. It's a simple but stunning like.
Best part of the job: I love every element - cutting, styling, competing and mentoring.
In the next five years, I want to... Open my own salon and academy, continue to travel and educate and, most importantly, inspire people.
My hairdressing hero is: Growing up in a hairdressing family, I was in awe of Vidal Sassoon and Trevor Sorbie, and now I admire Beverly C, Jamie Stevens and Robert Eaton.
Worst part of the job: No one believes me when I say there isn't one! I absolutely love my job.
My inspiration comes from... My mum runs her own salon and was an inspiration when I was growing up. Jason Taylor and the team at Beever Hair have inspired me too.
If I wasn't a hairdresser, I would be: Striving to become one. From the word go, this has been the only job for me.
