Hi everyone, I'm Alice and I'm the new writer working across the website and the main magazine.

I am so honoured to be working at Hairdressers Journal which I can't believe has been going for more than 125 years. I love the image gallery on HJi which is a real testament to the hairstyles that time forgot and an inspiration for new trends.

My first ever job was as a Saturday girl in a local salon, I thought I was rich earning £12 a day! My last job was in the fashion section of a consumer magazine and starting at HJ feels a bit like I've gone full-circle.

I'm a sucker for old-fashioned glamour and I love looking out for one-off vintage buys. I also get inspiration from old movies and could quite happily watch them all day whilst drinking endless cups of tea. A few of my favourite style icons are Catherine Deneuve, Penelope Tree and Jean Seberg.

I'm a big music fan and I've been going to festivals and gigs for years. I love the way that music inspires trends, you often see styles worn by bands long before they make it to the catwalk.
