Joshua-Tony,-Anthony.jpgThe Alternative Hair Show is never short on colour and with the theme of Kaleidoscope; this year's event delivered a colourful spectacular in every sense of the word.

The evening highlighted the talents of some of the biggest names in the industry, alongside up-and-coming talent, and hair teams from across the world with three distinct elements all celebrating creativity.

"The Alternative Hair Show always seems to pull out something that has never been seen before," said Anthony Mascolo pre-empting a show which proved him right!

Alfie-Visionary-Award-AHS.jpgHighlights of the show included the announcement of the winner of the International Visionary Award, with 12 entrants presenting their looks live on stage to an appreciative capacity crowd.

Models sported a range of looks - giant hair horns,  and a multi-levelled up-do which elicited gasps of admiration from the audience. Taking the award this year was stylist Alfie Booth, of Andrew Collinge in Liverpool for his 'peaked cap' creation (pictured).

The Alternative Hair Show itself featured presentations by UK salons, Mahogany, Burlingtons, Anne Veck, Sanrizz, TIGI and also hairdressing legend Tim Hartley. There was also a huge international presence with teams representing Nicholas French, Malgorzata Babicz, Ales International, Angus M, Winters Hair Concept, Saco, Klaus Peter Ochs, Dmitry Vinokurov, Easy Hair Fehringer, and Robert Cromeans.

Angus-M-Alice.jpgLooks were inspired by sources as diverse as Barberella, the Dada art movement, ballet, Michael Jackson and street theatre.

As always the show offered a weird and wonderful mix of hair and perfomance, with models in full-body stockings; women on stilts; punked up swans;  Alice in Wonderland, and moonwalking all making an appearance. Alternative Hair founder, Tony Rizzo described it as the best Alternative Hair Show ever.

Hair looks ranged from stylish bobs to outlandish giant hair pieces - including possibly the world's highest flat-top.

Alternative-Hair-cheque.jpgAnother highlight of the evening was the British Greats presentation which featured some of the biggest names in the industry, including Andrew Collinge, Anthony Mascolo, Robert Lobetta, Daniel and Joshua Galvin and John Frieda.

Each of the giants of the industry showcased a model sporting one of their signature styles.

The night not only entertained and inspired, but raised a staggering £175,000 for Leukaemia Research.
