A new generation of talent at tigi inspirational youth
Now in its seventh year, TIGI Inspirational Youth is a six-month programme, which takes young British hairdressers on a journey that encompasses everything there is to know about hairdressing and presentation skills.
Owing to popular demand, this year's team included rising stars from Europe, as well as home-grown talent.
The lively show was launched by TIGI's International Creative Director, Anthony Mascolo, who affirmed how proud the company were of the talented team, before revealing a rallying behind-the-scenes video, which documented the 20-strong group's journey from their very first meeting to prepping for the show.
First to the stage were the boys, who matched confident and clear presentation skills with strong, directional hairdressing.
Again, texture dominated, with plenty curls and waves contrasting against sleek edges. Although each individual look was very different, the overall feel was young, cool, and street, with lots of quirky retro touches. Movement was key, with a soft, touchable finish lending hair a modern quality.
Next on stage were the girls, who were equally impressive in both presentation and hairdressing. The looks felt young and cool, with just a touch more glamour than the boys' styles.
Versatility was key for many of the team, who demonstrated various ways of styling each look. Many mentioned that Bed Head products had been their starting point for their looks, and the tousled texture and deliberately 'imperfect' looks definitely matched the range's cool, urban style.
With the show over, Nick returned to the stage and told the obviously tight-knit team: "We're so proud of you all. I can't believe we've taken you from the salon to this, in just six months. You truly are the future of the industry." It would be difficult for anyone watching to disagree - the industry is clearly in safe hands.
