Selma blair looks to louise brooks for inspiration

Off-beat actress Selma Blair has recently opted for a 1920s-style bob that has more than a hint of screen legend Louise Brooks about it.

The 'Hellboy' star famously has quite an unusually low hair line on her forehead and she's disguised this by going for the classic, black bob that was a favourite with flappers and party girls in the Charleston era.

The blunt fringe brings out Selma's pretty eyes and defines the shape of the bob, giving her a startling resemblance to the 'Diary of a Lost girl' movie icon.

Not everybody can pull off such a sharp cut which can seem too severe, but Selma looks better than ever wearing the sultry style worn with smudged black liner to add impact.

We're used to seeing every kind of bob possible these days with choppy bobs, asymmetric bobs and curly bobs a common sight, but back in the 20s, the style was the height of rebellion as illustrated in the F. Scott Fitzgerald short story 'Bernice Bobs her Hair.'

Selma has opted for this retro take on the look and although it's no-longer viewed as a vulgar or taboo trend, the classic cut still makes a strong style statement.

The super-shiny finish and dramatic dark tone complete the look which Selma pulls off with ease.
